African culture at Avoca Beach
Africa is a vast continent with many cultures. The Central Coast African community of the Central Coast has played a vital role in the 5 Lands Walk for the past several years, presenting some of that diversity from the Xhosa in the south to the Sudanese in the north, reflecting the true meaning of the 5 Lands Walk - connecting people to people and people to place.
The pulsating rhythms of Africa will feature this year at Avoca Beach with African drumming from Avoca Beach Public School kids, African-inspired dance from Jump Street Dance, vibrant Hip Hop / Afro-fusion with a Carribean twist from Mack Cox, a young artist from Namibia with a great future, and Eden's March, our headline Indie Rock act featuring African Australian singer, David Chieza. The Rhythum Hut drummers will also add to the celebration of rhythm that's a hallmark of African culture. All this will be in the mix with jazz, French manouche and exquisite folk music to help create a program that truly connects.
